The President of the Football Federation of Macedonia Ilcho Gjorgioski had a meeting today with the President of the Croatian Football Association Davor Shuker. At the meeting with Gjorgioski, Shuker presented his program for his candidacy to become a member of the UEFA Executive Board. The two presidents also discussed the possibilities for cooperation, the challenges that the two federations face and they also discussed about the regional cup tournament that was proposed to UEFA by FFM.

“-Davor Shuker is a dear friend of ours and it’s our pleasure that he is visiting our “House of Football”. We are a part of the same UEFA Committee where we have discussed the proposals, activities and ideas that would lead to development of the football, especially in our region. The cooperation among our federations is at a very high level and we always try to extend our relationship when it comes to developing a quality base of youth players.  We follow the examples of the positive experiences and successes of the other federations, and the Croatian Football Association is definitely among the ones with great success. It is very important for us that HNS has positive remarks regarding our proposal to UEFA about a regional cup tournament since all the regional federations face the same problems – decline in number of fans at the football matches, low interest of the national leagues and a low number of international matches. I hope that our cooperation will bring many positive results, we will always support the people that put football first. – stated the President of the Football Federation of Macedonia, Ilcho Gjorgioski.

The President of the Croatian Football Association also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation with FFM, emphasizing the need for new ideas and proposals regarding the development of football in the region.

-“Ilcho is my friend and colleague, and as former active football players we feel the need for help each other with the programs and activities that develop football in our region. I hope that I will get the support of your federation at the voting for the UEFA Executive Board and then I will have the opportunity to help other football associations. You proposed a great suggestion for a regional cup tournament which may become a reality in the future and it may become the means for football progress in this region. – stated the President of the Croatian Football Association.
