The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the projects for women’s football development with the representatives from the Football Federation of Macedonia, with the coaches and head coaches of the women’s national teams, and with the committee for women’s football. The Football Federation of Macedonia applied and received a confirmation from FIFA for implementing the project “Live your goals”. The project involves grassroots activities for girls between 6 and 12 years old, particularly organizing two grassroots events where all girls that are interested in football will be invited and they will be able to actively play women’s football. The Football Federation of Macedonia discussed the forming of a new youth women’s league, and the possibility of forming the new league will be consulted and prepared together with FIFA officials.

Your federation has shown great interest in developing women’s football, and with the projects that we have started I hope that we will raise the level of quality and we will move one step further. There aren’t many coaches in women’s football, but the ones there are, are very educated and they are also very dedicated. FIFA will invest in two important projects in Macedonia, it is very important for us that we have great communication and cooperation with your federation, and I hope that this is the beginning of creating something important.” – stated Anna Signeul, FIFA women’s football instructor and head coach of the Scottish Women’s National Team.

The pleasure to have the FIFA official visiting our federation was also expressed by the coaches of women’s football.

Football is played from very early age, and through the grassroots events we can influence girls to actively start playing football. I hope that we will extend our cooperation with FIFA, because it is very important for us.” – stated Astrit Merko, the head coach of the U19 women’s national team.
